 IndyCar Series mesterskabets førende kører, Will Power fra Penske Racing, ser ikke ud til at være til at stoppe i denne sæsons kvalifikations kørsler, og således heller ikke i Sonoma på Infineon banen hvor han satte sin pole position nummer otte ud af ti mulige indtil nu i år.
Da 'fast six' kørerne var ude i den endelige kamp om pole position slog Will Power teamkollega Helio Castroneves med 0,037 sekund om den bedste startplacering.
