De to Carlin Motorsport kørere James Calado og Jean-Eric Vergne i deres Dallara Volkswagen racere indtog de to første pladser i torsdagens fri træning for deltagerne i British Formula 3 Championship på Spa-Francorchamps banen i Belgien. Yderligere en Carlin kører sluttede i top fem, det var Lucas Foresti.
Mellem Carlin kørerne, på 3. og 4. pladserne var det først William Buller fra Hitech Racing, og derefter ART Grand Prix køreren Alexander Sims der placerede sig.
